The aims of spinal injections

Spinal injections are done for 2 reasons. The commonest type of injection is a therapeutic injection. This is an injection that is done with the intention of making you better. When we are not sure exactly what is causing your symptoms then you may have a diagnostic injection. In some cases a diagnostic injection can have a lasting therapeutic benefit. Most injections involve the injection of a special dye that shows up on x-ray, followed by the injection of some steroid and local anaesthetic.
